Gravel bike route Kronreith (Route 2)

Start your route at the Servicecenter in Maria Alm and cycle towards Krallerwinkel. Pass the Natrunbahn and the three sporting goods stores until you reach the Griesbach bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the road slightly uphill into the Griesbachwinkel. After 2 km of paved road, past rustic farms and with views of the Steinernes Meer, head towards Sandten. At the junction “Liebmannhof” go straight ahead and switch to the gravel forest road. Now the steady climb begins! Through light woods you approach the impressive rock faces of Breithorn and Sommerstein. Look closely – maybe you will spot the last support of the material cable car to the Riemannhaus. A great bike & hike tip for experienced alpinists (Note: The bike route ends at the Riemannhaus parking lot!). At the “Riemannhaus parking lot” junction turn left – the steepest section is done! After another 1.5 km of easy climbing, you rejoin route 1 and reach the highest point of the tour. Take a quick photo with the breathtaking backdrop of the Pinzgau grass mountains and the Hohe Tauern in the background.
