Path Conditions
The Marmot Trail starts just to the right behind the dairy Schweizerhütte and leads along a wide, flat gravel path of about 1 km length to the "Realm of the Sloths." Large information boards describe the life of marmots at Hochkönig. From very close, you can observe a colony of about 20 marmots in their natural habitat. If it is very quiet, you can even hear them whistle. The whistle means "danger approaching." You will receive this and many other pieces of information along the way. The great thing is that you gain new knowledge while hiking. Something for both mind and body. Additionally, at the Arthurhaus, a marmot enclosure with tame rodents awaits you.
