Royal route with enjoyment in Dienten - AHORNSTEIN
The Ahornstein – at 1,855 m the highest peak of the Dienten grass mountains. From there you see the High Tauern, the Hochkönig massif and the Loferer Steinberge. The Bürglalmbahn makes the ascent easier, so we still have enough energy for the summit push to the Ahornstein. From the Bürglalm, the forest path leads to the first summit of our tour – the Wastlhöhe at 1,737 m. From the viewpoint (with photo point), the route continues over meadow paths to the destination and at the same time the highest point of our hike.

Path Conditions
From the ski center in Dienten, we comfortably reach 1,600m with the Bürglalmbahn (observe operating hours). A wide forest path (No. 63) leads gently ascending to the Wastlhöhe, a wonderful photo viewpoint. From there, path No. 15 becomes somewhat narrower and leads over meadows and through the forest to the destination of our hike, the Ahornstein. We enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the mountain world of the Dachstein, the Lower and Higher Tauern, up to the Großvenediger before the hike leads us back the same way to the Bürglalm, where we can refresh ourselves with an herbal and wild snack.
- Descent option 1: We come down to the valley with the Bürglalmbahn.
- Descent option 2: Via the Zachhofalm (no refreshment available) to the Liebenaualm parking lot.
- Descent option 3: From Ahornstein over the Huberalm to the Fischerstüberl (closed!)/Keilbrücke.
