From Maria Alm, the route is 32.6 km long with 2,720 m+ elevation gain up into the Steinernes Meer. The highest point to reach is the Schönegg at 2,390 m. The Skyrace is a very technical distance with some climbing sections to overcome. The time limit at the Hochkönig Ultraks Trailrunning Festival is 6 hours for the HK30-EXTREME.

Path Conditions
Start: Maria Alm/Salzburg
After starting at the "Trailbase Hochkönig Ultraks" at 807m, run opposite to all other starts over the parking lot, turn right down the next street in front of the church and pass the Maria Alm service center on the left, then at the Moserwirt guesthouse cross right over the small bridge. Running over the bridge, follow the Skyrace markings towards Hochreith/Riemannhaus, first over a short section of asphalt, then over a large alpine meadow and continuing through beautiful forest trails.
From Hochreith continue always in the direction of Riemannhaus to the Fürstenbründl junction, where you keep right always following the Skyrace markings. It continues and also a small section downhill on the forest road before it goes very steep and technical up the creek bed following the HK30-EXTREME markings towards Riemannhaus.
Then there is another steep section through the forest before a short section on a forest road and from km 7 very steep and partly secured with ropes on the rock up to the Riemannhaus.
Arriving at Riemannhaus, follow the Skyrace markings uphill over Schönegg and along the ridge to Wurmkopf, then turn left at Wurmscharte into the Steinernes Meer.
Here it goes very steep and technical downhill and following the HK30-EXTREME markings continues uphill and downhill to Buchauerscharte.
At Buchauerscharte, there is a very steep and technical downhill first over scree, then over a forest road and further down through beautiful forest trails to Rohrmoos.
Shortly before Rohrmoos, you run a short section together with the HK20 trail runners. After a stretch on a forest road, the HK20 trail branches to the right and the HK30-EXTREME to the left and about 200m later cross a bridge and turn left again towards Lechner Alm.
After the refreshment station, it goes up to Lechner Alm, first over a short section on the forest road, then a very steep forest trail past Lechner Alm to Massingsattel. From Massingsattel, follow the HK30-EXTREME markings through a technical forest trail to Brimbachalm and a steep section up to Brimbachkögerl, from where it then goes partly very steep down to Jufen Alm.
You pass through Jufen Alm and on the last approx. 200m+ ascent through a forest trail past the reservoir pond up to Natrun, from where it is then the last fast downhill, partly over technical trails and to the final sprint over the parking lot into the Trailbase Hochkönig Ultraks.
