Butterfly Experience Trail

Let's go together on the Butterfly Trail! Your route starts in front of the beautiful church in Hinterthal. From there, turn right and follow path 401A. On this path, you will pass the cozy Gasthaus Obermussbach – maybe you will see some delicious dishes there that will make your mouth water! After about 10 minutes, you will discover the Butterfly Trail. This trail is very special as it leads you above the Mussbachalm. Along the way, there are many great information panels that tell you everything about the colorful butterflies that live in our homeland. Maybe you can even see some of these beautiful butterflies while hiking! Watch out for the different colors and shapes – it's like a little adventure in nature! When you arrive at the Mussbachalm , you can take a break and enjoy the view. Here you will find delicious food and refreshing drinks that help you gain new strength before you start the return journey. The descent follows the same path you came up. Be sure to observe the beautiful plants and perhaps even some butterflies on your way back! This hike is not only fun for you but also a great opportunity to discover nature and learn more about the wonderful world of butterflies. Path Conditions

We travel by the hiking bus or by car to Hinterthal. There are parking facilities here or at the fire station (just before). In front of the church in Hinterthal, we turn right and follow the paved access road for about 300 m. Then it continues on a gravel path - path no. 401A. Passing the Gasthaus Obermussbach , we follow the path uphill towards the Mussbachalm. After about 10 minutes, we reach the starting point of the themed hiking path "Butterfly Experience Trail", which ends above the Mussbachalm, one of our herb alp pastures. Numerous information panels with beautiful nature photographs invite you to look and read. They provide an insight into the diversity of butterflies in the Alps. The descent takes place on the same path as the ascent. There is a place to refresh yourself at the Mussbachalm
