From the Mitterfeldalm, you continuously follow hiking trail No. 401A/430. This leads you through a charming alpine landscape into the picturesque Riedingtal, where you can admire the striking mountain waterfall and the impressive Mandl walls in the background. On your way, you pass the clearly visible natural ski jumps of the former ski jumping center Riedingtal of Sepp “Bubi” Bradl. After this impressive view of the Hochkönig, you continue your hike through the mountain pines, cross the alpine meadows of the "Four Huts," and finally reach the Birgkar. There you will find your next overnight option, the Erichhütte, from which you can admire the impressive Hochkönig massif at sunset.

Path Conditions
From the Mitterfeldalm, hiking trail No. 401A/430 leads you through a fascinating mountain landscape to the Arthurhaus and Schweizerhütte. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the majestic Hochkönig massif and the impressive Mandl walls as you cross the Riedingtal with its stunning waterfalls. The Riedingtal not only holds the beauty of nature but also a rich history as a former center of ski jumping, which attracted both national and international celebrities. The remains of the former ski jumps still testify to past glory today. After this section, you will face an ascent to the alpine meadows of the "Four Huts," where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest. Here you have the choice between the legendary farmer's doughnuts from Christl at the Brandstätthütte or the delicious cheese varieties from Markus at the Molterauhütte. Strengthened and refreshed, you continue your hike along the foot of the imposing Hochkönig. The path through the alpine terrain is technically uncomplicated and leads you through the Birgkar. After a short descent, the inviting Stegmoosalm awaits you for a last stop before you reach your stage destination, the charming Erichhütte. Upon arriving at the Erichhütte, you can admire the impressive Hochkönig massif in the warm light of the sunset before heading to your well-deserved rest.
